The Appellate Court in Kisumu has nullified the election of Cyprian Awiti as Homa Bay Governor.
In the ruling, Justice Fatuma Sichale upheld the decision of the High Court to annul the elections on grounds of irregularities.
Justice Sichale who read the verdict on behalf of other the three-judge bench ordered Awiti and IEBC to pay Sh 4 million and Sh 2 million respectively to cover Former Kasipul Kabondo MP Oyungi Magwanga’s legal costs.
Magwanga had moved to court to challenge the election of Cyprian Awiti.
IEBC had declared Cyprian Awiti the winner 210,173 votes against Magwanga who had 189,016.
