Man who allegedly killed cousin for Sh 9 million insurance money arrested


Evans Kasyoki has been arrested.

Kasyoki was arrested on Tuesday in Kasarani, Nairobi County after members of the public spotted him at the Thika Road Mall and alerted the police.

Kasyoki is who is currently being held at Kasarani Police Station allegedly killed his cousin Eric Makau Musyoka in 2014 and claimed his Sh 9 million life insurance cover.

Working for Jubilee Insurance then, Evans Kasyoki secretly took two life insurance covers for Musyoka before killing him and claiming the payments.

The two life insurance policies that Kasyoki took for Musyoka include one for Jubilee insurance worth Sh 1 million and the other for AIG insurance worth 8 million.

Kasyoki’s arrest comes barely two days after Citizen TV aired a feature of his involvement in the death of Musyoka.

His family says that Kasyoki had managed to escape justice for four 4 years even after reporting the matter to the police.

The Director of Public Prosecutions Nordin Haji ordered for the arrest of Kasyoki after the story was aired on Citizen TV.

“The DPP attention has been drawn to a news feature appearing on Citizen TV Kenya prime time news in regard to the Kangundo incident. Due to the nature of the case, the DPP has directed that immediate legal steps be taken to ensure justice is done,” read a tweet from the DPP’s office.

On Monday, ICEA Lion Group where Evans Kasyoki was a manager terminated his contract.

“ICEA LION Life Assurance has terminated its agency contract with Evans Masaku Kasyoki as per the terms of his contract,” the company tweeted.
